TALK ABOUT THE DEBATES
After a confusing week of “are they or aren’t they” the first presidential debates of 2008 are set to go. Before the big bailout catastrophe, the debates were to be centered on foreign policy, but unless you’ve been under a rock—Americans are enraged over the economy. And everyone connected to Washington has noticed.
John McCain kicked things off by suspending his campaign until the bailout was settled, asking his competitor, Obama, to do the same. Obama responded by saying the debates were the exact time to discuss the economy and that a potential president should be able to multitask. Needless to say it’s been an interesting week.

it looks like even with McCain/Republican tactics–Obama prevailed. I’m glad he didn’t suspend his campaign or cancel the debates. He won this round
I hope McCain paints his face in plenty of vaseline, because that is the only way he is going to shine, tonight!
I hope Obama has a good plan per getting taxes out of illegal immigrants using our resources, repairing our economy, and holding these white collar thieves accountable, for starters.
BARACK….ROCKS!!! BARACK HIT THE FLO,mccain is LOW, LOW LOW LOW LOW LOW LOW LOW
I most certainly DON’T want to hear McCain push the Iraq war because that is the biggest drain on the economy, and he can’t convince me otherwise.
I really would like to hear more about education and what the plans are to cure this economy.
I am pulling for Barack, he is not a strong debater. McCain is strong at this.. Barack bring it because right now McCain has an upper hand.
Great Job, Barack just cut McCain off on this the fundamental differences between the candidates economic plans
McCain is a IDIOT and a bad sport . He has that same STUPID smile like George Bush
He is doing a great job with this debate. Pray for his health, he looks exhausted. He is doing a lot of stuttering tonight.
I agree, our economy is in horrible shape ! I beleive in the Obama campaign. McCain is not capable of changing for the better.
No sympathy for McCain !! I feel for you but, why have you not changed anything already. All talk !!
Obama showed that he is definitely a man who can take charge and a man of great diplomacy. He gave credit when it was due and was still able to represent his position brillantly. McCain is stubborn and has no ability to bring people together. America needs Obama at the head of the negotiation table. There was one point that angered me about this debate. It was McCain’s blatant failure to look at Obama and speak points of discussion to him. What an arrogant man. He also looked like he had the symptoms of a stroke victim. His left arm seemed somewhat challenged.
Kathy…..McCain can’t raise his arms up very high due to the torture he endured in Viet Nam.
OK guys. Barack did rock. I love the guy. While biased, I think McCain’s smirking every time Mr. Obama answered a question didn’t do him any favors. It made him look like a bad-tempered old man.
There’s no question McCain has foreign policy experience and no one is trying to take that away from him. All I heard from McCain was a history lesson in his foreign policy experience. Fine!!!! So be it! It’s only going to fade away from the memories of voters in a few days. The word “middle class” never once came out of his mouth. He said nothing about the average american or gave any hope to the less fortunate. His war monger talk only shows that he’s more in line Bush’s politics. Barrack Obama may not have been strong on forien policy but he held his own.
People dont understand that foreign policy is not his best, but the presidency emcompasses more than that. The next debate is about economics. Obama did not stutter he just was very careful. McCain dated himself by repeating things that happened 20 years ago.
Good debate, but you haven’t seen nothing yet, Wait until the Biden - Palin fight. The republicans have been secretly asking her to step dpwn. and tell america that she needs to care for her child.
This is where team sports come in. Whatever Obama lacks, Biden will pick up the fight next week.
What’s going to happen when there’s more than one crisis, does he call a “time-out” then. Sine Palin is ready to step in at any time she could have debated Obama.
Obama prevailed as expected. Obviously, no one has ever taught McCain how to proffessionally debate someone; his body language was horrible. If this were a classroom debate McCain would have recieved an “F” because of his lack of eye contact, amongst other things. I can’t figure out how Obama is able to deliver his classic “velvet knock-outs” but Mccain looked as if he were going to explode any minute. Every single point that McCain covered Obama pounced on the point with such elegance and grace; there aren’t many people out there that can state their case without loosing their cool. I am really looking forward to Obama’s next debate with McCain; and even more so to the debate that Joe Biden will have with Sarah Palin. I can’t wait.
Obama clearly won the debate.
McCain simply looked too old and to stuck in yesterday. He was not effective.
Let’s see what the McCain camp comes up with next week that will “surprise” us.
I think Senator Obama did very well
considering the disrespect McCain showed
him. McCain never looked at him and he
kept saying Senator Obama didn,t under-
stand as if he was stupid. But Obama shut him down every time. I think the
republicans are scared. I don,t think
there is any one clear cut answer. Who
ever is president faces a big mess and
it,s going to take a lot of years to
correct this one, thanks to the republicans. I think in the end we can
all agree on one thing, we are all tired
of what we have seen in the last eight
years.
Everyone keeps taking about Barack’s lack of foreign policy experience, but if the requirement for being the President of the United States meant he should know everything about everything, how did we find ourselves in the mess we’re in today? I believe that is the job of the President’s advisors to help him. Furthermore, McCain chose to ignore the average American and stick with his talking points and Ronald Reagan. According to Reagan the wealth of America would trickle down to the average man, but why, in the 28 years since he was first elected, how we not seen the effects of the trickle? McCain seemed very Reagan-esque to me tonight.
I want to know how come McCain didn,t
see any problem with the economy, but
then suspends his campaign to go to washington to so call help. Help with a
failing economy that you would have had to be blind not to see. McCain is old and out dated, his expiration date is up. Back in his day a black man would not dare stand against a white man and how dare Senator Obama act like he,s
more intelligent. Obamas cool has got
them all shaking in there boots. Especially after they have tried so hard
to rattle him.
Here’s the problem with my people: They have failed in reading. They never were really good at it………… There’s all sorts of methods to it. (Reading that is,) Just as their are kids who have trouble reading jack and jill books there are children of GOD who have trouble reading and understanding that when their titanic of a building was hit in 2001, it would primarily be an exampple of what GOD would later do towards this entire country and world. And the warning was written in blood. Can he be any clearer for us? ________________________________________________________________________________ The economy is very similar to the expired Trade center towers in new york city. The highest place of trade in the land was hit, and as we all know there was a 15 minute delay before the first fell. Do your parallels family. All the evil that has been done in the earth by the hands of the affluent has affected many of the poor towards there demise. And everything living at some point has to mature or become ripe. ________________________________________________________________________________I use that term “living” loosely, you may refer to them as being the “walking dead” So please listen if you are awoke as a child of the most high, all indications show that GOD is in the process of cashing the check that their evil has earned, and they must be repayed for all they’ve done otherwise it could be said that GOD is unable to live up to his name as being the just person he is. And this is written also, so if you would please read!!!!

Psalms 58:1-11********** 1 Do you rulers indeed speak justly? Do you judge uprightly among men? 2 No, in your heart you devise injustice, and your hands mete out violence on the earth. 3 Even from birth the wicked go astray; from the womb they are wayward and speak lies. 4 Their venom is like the venom of a snake, like that of a cobra that has stopped its ears, 5 that will not heed the tune of the charmer, however skillful the enchanter may be. 6 Break the teeth in their mouths, O God; tear out, O LORD, the *10*s of the lions! ________________________________________________________________________________ 7 Let them vanish like water that flows away; when they draw the bow, let their arrows be blunted. 8 Like a slug melting away as it moves along, like a stillborn child, may they not see the sun. 9 Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns— whether they be green or dry—the wicked will be swept away. 10 The righteous will be glad when they are avenged, when they bathe their feet in the blood of the wicked. 11 Then men will say, “Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth.”

Psalms 92:4-15************** 4 For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands. 5 How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts! 6 The senseless man does not know, fools do not understand, 7 that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed. 8 But you, O LORD, are exalted forever. 9 For surely your enemies, O LORD, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered. ________________________________________________________________________________10 You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured upon me. 11 My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries; my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes. 12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; 13 planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, 15 proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

Psalms 94:1-11,14,15,20-23****************1 O LORD, the God who avenges, O God who avenges, shine forth. 2 Rise up, O Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve. 3 How long will the wicked, O LORD, how long will the wicked be jubilant? 4 They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers are full of boasting. ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ 5 They crush your people, O LORD; they oppress your inheritance. 6 They slay the widow and the alien; they murder the fatherless. 7 They say, “The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob pays no heed.” 8 Take heed, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise? 9 Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see? 10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches man lack knowledge? 11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man; he knows that they are futile. ___________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________ 14 For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance. 15 Judgment will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it. 20 Can a corrupt throne be allied with you— one that brings on misery by its decrees? 21 They band together against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death. 22 But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge. 23 He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the LORD our God will destroy them
GO MaCain, Don’t beleive the hype of Obama, change to what, Obama has no plan, if you read what little plans he has introduce it sounds and looks like the Hillary Clinton old ideals inwhich he said that they were a scam and that you would not benfit from them, so take the time too read his plans and not just go by what the News media news paper tell you ie New York Times and MSNBC. GO MaCain from another Retired Navy sailor
Full Speed Ahead
Who cares who won a scripted, well rehearsed debate? The question is, What are ordinary Americans going to do in order to dig themselves out of this plight. Or, better yet, do you have the will?
On question, I would like to ask “African American” on this forum — Why are there no visible African American (blacks)advisers in the Obama campaign?
I WAS APPALLED BY THE LACK OF RESPECT GIVEN BY McCAIN.OBAMA SHOWED NO PASSION OR TRUE CONVICTION. THE QUESTIONS AND THE MODERATOR WAS LAME.REGULAR PEOPLE NEED TO ASK THE QUESTIONS SO THERE IS NO SCRIPT TO WORK FROM AND THE CANDIDATES HAVE TO SPEAK OFF THE CUFF AND THINK OUT OF THE BOX.
I was impressed with Obama across the board with his answers. But I think he said “I agree with
Sen.Mcain too many times.Even if he agreed maybe he shouldn’t say it.
Can you be clever yet dumb? McCain was clever, in that we can’t truly accuse him of any one position, but he is domb by ticking us off nonetheless. His comments about how this HIGHLY intelligent & educated former professor could not comprehend concepts was ridiculous! Was it the race or the novice he was mocking? We will never really know if his condescending tone was because Obama is relatively new to politics or if he was just condescending to a black man as if he cannot comprehend basic concepts.
I am for Obama…but McCain surprised me with his ability to debate Obama. He was able to articulate his points…even though I don’t agree with them. I expected McCain to do worse and Obama to do better. I suppose Obama is waiting for the last debate to come out roaring because he doesn’t want McCain to back out of future debates like he almost did. We must admit Obama supporters…for an old man (McCain), that man is strong minded and physically for what he endured in Vietnam. He definitely was on his game! (But he won’t get my vote, just for the issues alone.
I am very proud of Senator Obama, he is classy to say the least. I could not let that John McCain keep saying (you do not understand) Seriously a tactic i am sure of the republican party to try and establish dominance and power and it did not work. Senator Obama I will fight even harder for you now. God bless you as you bless America. He simply makes me proud. Next time tell him you are both speaking English, Only Obama is at a higher level.
Again:Why are there no visible African American (blacks)advisers in the Obama campaign?
Presidential Debate: Something New & Something Ugly
As I watched the presidential debate I learned something new and remembered something very ugly, from our not so long ago past.
For the life of me, I have never understood the Republican Party’s party line of how they characterize liberals. What makes a person be “a liberal,” “a liberal voter” and just what makes Senator Obama be “the most liberal voter” ever? What I’ve since learned is, voting against the faulty and unsuccessful policies of President Bush is a republican litmus test for being a liberal and liberal voters. Why do Republican politicians and Republican voters deem this to be a terrible thing?
In conclusion, the ugly thing brought to mind as a result of Senator John McCain’s performance is how White men from back in Senator McCain’s day deemed it reprehensible, beneath them, a crime of immorality and a criminal act for a Black man to ever look White people in the eye. His performance invoked painful images of a 14 year-old Emmett Till being killed for whistling at a White woman. It looked as if it physically pained Senator McCain to be on the same stage as a Black man, and seems as if Senator John McCain went through great pains to not once approach or look in the direction of Senator Obama during the entire debate.
Oh, how we so opportunistically and so soon forget, that that this is the very same man, who in 1983 so ardently opposed the Martin Luther King Holiday, only to admit he was wrong in 2008, after he announces his bid to become the 44th President of The United States of America.
What rocked me to my core was McCain’s vow to freeze all spending except for Defense and Veterans Affairs in response to the bailout. What? No FBI? No border patrol? No social security for my elderly parents? No disability for my autistic nephew? And with no Homeland Insecurity, I guess we’ll have to kiss our freedom goodbye. Obama’s retort was genius. McCain has approached the situation with a hatchet, while what is needed is a scalpel. For me this drew one of the most striking contrasts to date between these two potential leaders. Knee jerk reactions might seem more passionate. But slow and methodical usually yields better results.
Also, I could not believe McCain wrongly tagged Obama for threatening violence against Pakistan. Then said of Putin, he looked into his eyes and saw KGB. If that remark is not incendiary to say the least, perhaps McCain has changed the meaning of that word too.
In response to Mr. Al-Amin, he addressed the real issue. My parents told me that you looked a man in the eye when you talked about him, not behind his back. In this case, McCain showed no class whatsoever. You can’t trust a man who doesn’t look you in the eye, and I think that more needs to be made out of this at Moveon.org. I’ll write them, to say that this is a real issue, one that will bring the election to Obama. McCain flip-flops and changes with the political wind, gives ugly looks, and even has a fake smile. How could anyone vote for someone like that?
Regarding Ms. Wooten’s comments about McCain and Russia, she’s right about incendiary. I was watching France24 TV news the night the Georgian tanks were sent into S. Ossetia, and there were no Russian tanks there. Russia came into Georgia in response to Sacaushvily’s sending tanks into South Ossetia and killing 15 Russian citizens. Admittedly, the force of the Russian response was tremendous, just like ours would be if some foreign nation killed 15 of our people. More needs to be made of these FACTS too.
