THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES: WHO WILL WIN?

Round two of the Presidential debates take place tonight.  Though this round isn’t expected to draw the same attention garnered by their VP counterparts last week, the chance to see Obama and McCain spar over the economy alone will have many tuned in for answers.

As John McCain and Barack Obama bounce back from a weekend of negative attack ads, the rest of America continues to simmer in one of the worst financial crises in history.   The American people want to hear what they have to say and how they will handle issues like rising gas and food prices, healthcare and the recent government bailout.

The second of three debates, the Presidential candidates will square off in a ‘town hall’-style debate commentated by Tom Brokaw.

What do you want to hear from the candidates in this debate and who do you think will win?

Stay tuned Wednesday when Jimi Izrael recaps the second 2008 Presidential debate.

I want to hear what is going to be done for the middle class ONLY. I don’t want to hear about any war stories. I DO NOT want to hear about him being a maverick. I could scream when I hear that word now! I do not want to hear personal attacks. I want Senator Obama to take the high road and let Senator McCain continue to take the low road.

I want to hear Senator Obama tell the american people, how he will use his knowledge and experience as a community organizer to assist the unemployed to become diversified with an up to date training and educational program so they can once again be gainfully employed. I want both candidates to tell the working poor and the middle class what they will do specificaly in laymen’s terminology what they can do to increase the minimum wage, and how they will get us off of our burdensome addiction to fossil fuels. And finaly I would like to hear them tell us what exactly they will do to make our economy better for every man, woman and child.

I expect that Senator Obama will take some punches, and I expect that he
SHOULD throw some.

Do you folks live in the same United States of America where I live? All this talk of turning the other cheek and taking the high…that’s what lost John Kerry the election!

We already know that Senator Obama is extremely smart and capable, so he doesn’t have to prove that to us. But he’s in a fight and he’s going to have to take John McCain down. An old adage: if you play with a puppy, it will lick your face; play with a snake, it will bite you. He can’t be gentle with the republicans because that’s not what they are, and it’s not what they respond to. They are bullies and Senator Obama will have to verbally kick a** to knock them off balance. And come on, we know this works with the American public.

The republicans want to fabricate friendships between Senator Obama and Bill Ayers because the two once served on a charity board together. That’s like linking people together because they shopped at the same supermarket on the same date. But the release of the Keating video reveals a factual incident where Senator McCain had to appear before a congressional hearing in the early ’90s, due to his involvement in S&L fraud. These are things that people need to know, because Senator McCain is a contributor to the debt this country racked up because of S&L scandals, and this also explains his position of deregulation regarding the oversight of financial institutions.

Neither of the two presidential candidates has a record of
1. economic/budgetary experience
2. foreign affairs experience
3. executive - state/local government expeience
4. being vocal in racial issues

Both men are asking the American people to trust them, hoping that they will deliver on the myriad of campaign promises. It is like a doctor who has no history of ever performing a brain surgery asking me to trust him/her that the operation will be successful.

I guess I will have to decide the better of the “evils” since someone has to be president.

The one to convince me should deliver the following speech.

“America is facing serious economic and political problems. Hear are the top five:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
If elected, in my first term I will give 110 percent in fulfilling the the top three. I will work with both Republicans and Democrats to achieve my goal for the American people. No matter how honorable my goals are, I know achieving them will take bi-partisian efforts. That’s was the vision our founding father — check and balance. If I am unable to deliver I will not seek re-election.

Have you considered that under Senator McCain’s health plan proposal, we will be left completely without health insurance?

Just as the president has given businesses the option to pay or not pay cost of living raises, many businesses opt not to. Basically, John McCain’s plan leaves it up to your employers whether they wish to provide you a health plan, which means that many will probably not.

The $5,000 tax credit, like your ‘Head of Household’ deductible that you claim at tax time, will not translate into $5,000 in your hand. After the math, it will probably only reduce the taxes you pay by hundreds of dollars, or add as much IF you get a refund. We will be left on our own to figure out how to finance our health care. Furthermore, what if the insurance companies then began offering health plans with the type of interest rates that credit card companies charge because of their risk for loaning us the money, in advance, to receive health services?

Lets be objective — Do you really believe that the insurance lobby group are going roll over and play dead under Obama’s plan. And, where is the money to finance such “well-intentioned” plan going to come from.

It appears to me that Obama’s overall economic plan is to chip away at free market economy. Lest government, the better.

Why aren’t you asking where the money to finance the Iraqi war is coming from?

Ending this war would free up at least $200 million per day. But, had you been listening, you would have heard Senator Obama say that he would also examine government programs and eliminate the ones that aren’t working, retool the ones that are so that they meet 21st century needs.

Keep in mind that deregulation, whether it be the transportation industry during Nixon’s administration, or financial institutions during Reagan’s administration, were supposed to allow each industry to operate unencumbered by restrictions and red tape. But the only way this works is when there is a genuine concern for the well-being of the average public. The business world has demonstrated that their concern is ONLY profit, and not people. Therefore, the more they make, the greedier they become. Deregulation has only made it possible for private industry to skyrocket their costs to consumers while they make money hand over fists.

I would like to hear that this is a man of dignity, strength and courage. A man that can look past the color of ones skin, that is here to work for the good of all. We the people have to put aside our difference in order to do our part to work with this man to make this a better place for us all. Th struggle we have is not just a black issue, it is a struggle that each human being facees throught our life time. Obama has a plan that will work if the people of this great nation will let him put it in motion.
