DR. DRE’S SON FOUND DEAD

Drdreson_flickrTHE FACTS
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has confirmed that Dr. Dre’s son, Andre Romelle Young Jr. has died.

THE SPIN
The Los Angeles Times reports that Dr. Dre’s 20-year-old son was found dead over the weekend in his home. The LA county coroner’s office said Andre R. Young Jr. had been out with friends the night before he died. His mother discovered him dead in his bed the next morning.

Los Angeles County coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter, told the LA Times: “She found him unresponsive and called paramedics.”

Winter added that an autopsy had been completed but that determination of the cause of death was deferred pending the outcome of a number of additional tests – including toxicology.

Dr. Dre, Andre Young Sr. has released a statement to AllHipHop.com on the death of his son.

The statement reads: “Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son Andre Young Jr. Please respect his family’s grief and privacy at this time.”

Thoughts go out to Dr. Dre and family on the loss of Andre Jr.

Send Dr. Dre your condolences.

DA BRAT GETS 3 YEARS IN PRISON

Dabrat_aboutTHE FACTS
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Da Brat was convicted of striking an Atlanta Falcons cheerleader in the head with a liquor bottle at an Atlanta-area nightclub.

THE SPIN
A DeKalb county judge has sentenced Da Brat to three years in prison in addition to seven years probation and 200 hours of community service. The rapper, born Shawntae Harris, must also get treatment for substance abuse and obtain a mental evaluation along with anger management classes.

I don’t have one ounce of sympathy for Brat. That’s what happens when you bust a person upside the head with a nearly full bottle of alcohol over something petty. And considering Da Brat hit a woman at a Buckhead bar back in 2000, it’s obvious she’s under the impression that it’s 1994 and that her music still matters so she can get away with anything.

Well, she might be the first female rapper to go to platinum, but she’s the fourth to go to prison. I hope she and Remy Martin encourage each other to grow up once they become prison pen pals.

TYRA BANKS DISSES AUDIENCE

Tyra_newfacesTHE FACTS
The New York Post reports that Tyra Banks kept her talk show studio audience waiting two hours while she carried on backstage.

THE SPIN
Tyra Banks likes to make herself the focal point of every conversation. She could be speaking to an astronaut and Tyra would be sure to butt in and note how when she was a model, a photographer told her she could soar all the way to the moon. That or she would somehow manage to make the conversation about her weight or her mother. Naturally, people like this tend to be so self-involved they could care less about anyone else. That’s what makes this new story about her dissing her audience all the more believable.

Page Six says while audience waited two hours for her to appear, Tyra laughed, snacked, and chatted (probably about herself) with the crew.

And after she finally did grace the audience with her presence, she reportedly had a bad attitude. Their spy told them: “She leaves us waiting, and everyone is sitting there complaining, and then she comes out and doesn’t say a word about it. She didn’t even say hello, she got right into her script. She acted so cold towards everyone. She’s a phony.”

Well duh. As great and accomplished as she is, she’s a model turned “reality” TV mogul, what did you expect? That’s like someone finding out Beyonce’s hair isn’t real. The blonde tracks are in your face only you don’t want to see it until it’s directly in front of you.

In any event, the spy went on to add that in the show – themed around Black models – Tyra didn’t let her guests get much words in edgewise, opting instead to talk about herself.

Told you so.
