DIDDY, ARETHA PAIR UP FOR REALITY SHOW

THE FACTS
Aretha Franklin has reportedly sought Diddy’s help in securing a reality show.

THE SPIN
I don’t think Aretha Franklin should do reality TV. Not because she’s old; it’s because her idea is. Apparently, Diddy Puff wants to create another American Idol series. This is on top of the many, many, many talent shows we already have on TV – not even including the one Puff Puff has on the way.

And of course, the project so much isn’t about finding the next voice as it is giving Aretha Franklin screen time to vent for the millionth time she’s the greatest singer ever. WENN quotes her saying, “The country will not vote. It will be just me and Diddy voting for who the next star will be.” She takes that queen thing a wee bit too seriously, no?

I’ll pass on American Idol 57. What say you?

ARETHA FRANKLIN FINDS HAPPINESS

THE FACTS
Rolling Stone has named Aretha Franklin the greatest singer of the rock era.

THE SPIN
She was pissed off when Beyonce addressed Tina Turner as a “queen,” but now when anyone dares to make the same mistake, Aretha can cuddle up with her favorite issue of Rolling Stone ever.

Here’s a preview of what Mary J. Blige wrote as a part of the mag’s tribute to Aretha:

“You know a force from heaven. You know something that God made. And Aretha is a gift from God. When it comes to expressing yourself through song, there is no one who can touch her. She is the reason why women want to sing.”

Sounds like something Aretha would say herself. If you want to read the rest of Mary’s commentary about Aretha the Great, go here: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/24161972.

J.HUD’S FRIEND IS MAD AT BEYONCE

THE FACTS
Jennifer Hudson’s friend James is mad at Beyonce for not reaching out to Jennifer in her time of grief, and lashed out at the singer via his MySpace blog.

THE SPIN
As the story goes on the Sandra Rose blog, Jennifer Hudson’s friend James is pissed at Beyonce and wants folk to stop giving credit to her for showing up at the funeral of Jennifer’s deceased family members because she wasn’t there. I hadn’t actually heard anyone applaud Beyonce for such an act, but hey, somebody must have said it.

This is an excerpt from James’ MySpace blog:

“Beyonce did not come to the funeral nor did she call, text, send a card or hell send a damn email. If there are millions of people who are leaving Jennifer and Julia and myself messages and sending there prayers and condolences and these people don’t even know them why couldn’t she? Every singer that Jennifer admires and had been a role model for her growing up even until now has called, from Aretha to Shirley Murdock to even present day singers like Chrisette Michelle. And y’all know how much Jennifer loves Beyonce and she couldn’t even have her assistant call or nothing. But yet her camp is allowing her to receive credit for coming to the funeral and being there for Jennifer and her family. Bullshit! …”

His MySpace blog is actually set to private, but you know nothing is really private anymore – just ask Jennifer’s sister, Julia. I’m going to need Jennifer Hudson’s friends and family members to log off of MySpace and stay off for a long time. No good can come of ranting when grieving.
