JANET VS. BEYONCE

THE FACTS
The National Enquirer claims Janet Jackson wants to confront Beyonce over comments Beyonce made about the Jackson family in an interview with Giant magazine.

THE SPIN
So Beyonce said: “I grew up upper class. Private school.  My dad had a Jaguar. We’re African-American and we work together as a family, so people assume we’re like The Jacksons. But I didn’t have parents using me to get out of a bad situation.”

And now the Enquirer claims Janet “blew up” when she heard about this and now wants to confront Beyonce and “read her the riot act.”

The magazine’s “source” told them: “Janet wanted to know why Beyonce had to mention her family. They’re not friends and barely know each other. She feels Beyonce went out of her way to tell the world she’s from the upper class and the Jacksons were like a bunch of dirty gutter rats.”

They go on to say Janet thinks Beyonce has a lot of growing up to do and needs to stop trying to impress everyone. That’s a funny quote coming from a Jackson.

This sounds like another media-generated feud to boost fledging magazine sales. They might as well have added that LaToya called Janet and challenged Beyonce and Kelly to a tag team steel-cage match for good measure.

IS IT A WRAP FOR BRANDY?

THE FACTS
Billboard reports that Brandy’s latest album, “Human,” debuted at No. 15 with sales of 73,000.

THE SPIN
Either ya’ll didn’t know Brandy had an album out or ya’ll didn’t seem to care. Poor Brandy just opened with the lowest debut of her career. Meanwhile Musiq debuted at no. 11 with 91,000 copies sold and right behind him is Common at no. 12 with 82,000 units.

And Beyonce – whose album has been out for weeks – actually saw a 4% increase in sales to move another 159,000 copies of I Am…Adult Contemporary On One Side, Same Old Beyonce On The Other. That makes her platinum, which makes Brandy’s debut all the more pitiful.

I feel bad for her. Judging from her recent round of interviews she seems to be really happy about being back in the spotlight (although it’s clearly a lot dimmer than it used to be) and [really] wanting to get people to hear her new music.

YOUR SPIN: With sales like these, though, not that many people seem to be noticing. Should she start rehearsing for Dancing with the Stars (of Yesteryear) now or does she still have a chance with “Human?”  Tell us here.

BEYONCE IS HAPPY TO LOSE DIVA REPUTATION

THE FACTS
Beyonce says she’s happy to finally shed her diva image.

THE SPIN
Apparently Beyonce doesn’t like the word diva. According to gossip site Showbiz, when asked if the word annoys her she said: “Definitely. At one point I was misunderstood a lot. But the more I meet people, I think people are beginning to feel a little differently about me.”

I guess Beyonce hates the diva tag but “Sasha” revels in it because I could’ve sworn she just shot a video for a song called “Diva” with lyrics that go, “A diva is a definition of a hustler.”

I guess multi personal disorder comes in handy.

Beyonce also spoke on her plans of becoming a serious actress.

She said: “My goal is to become a successful actress in dramas that don’t involve singing. I’ve been comfortable in singing roles, but I don’t want to be comfortable. I want non-singing roles that will challenge me. I want to open the door for black female entertainers and show them they can do anything.”

In other Beyonce news, the non-diva just signed on to star in a remake of A Star Is Born. She will portray a singer.
